Spiral classificators
Application and design features of spiral classifier
The spiral classifier (KS) is one of the oldest kinds of equipment for grain material separation by sizes in water environment. The spiral classifier operation is based on the difference in the free-falling velocity of solid material particles in water environment. It is designed for separating the ground materials into two fractions primarily within the size range of 0.05-3.0 mm. Sometimes the spiral classifiers are used for ore washing from clayey material admixtures, and the maximum feed size can reach 10-15.The spiral classifier design consists of the setting zone for solid material with the controlled sidestep for fine fraction discharge and the inclined vat with one or two augers (spirals) to transport the coarse fraction to the discharge area. The spiral classifiers can work both in open and closed cycle in combination with wet induced ball mill.
Advantages of spiral classifiers
The advantages of spiral classifiers include simple design, low power consumption and using in closed grinding cycles without pumps. The spiral classifiers are successfully used as parts of the enlarged laboratory units of continuous operation and at the pilot concentration plants.REC "Mekhanobr-Tekhnika" manufactures the spiral classifiers with spiral diameters of 100, 150 and 200 mm.
