The ELKOR separators are designed for the dry separation of loose materials by their electrical and physical characteristics and can be used for concentration and classification of mineral and technogenic raw materials.
Features of Elkor separators
Production of high-quality concentrate with high recovery of useful component. The electrostatic separators have low energy consumption and are environmentally friendly.
Operating principle of Elkor
The operating principle of the separator is as follows: the feed material flows from the feed hopper to the feeder tray and then to the rotating drum (collecting electrode) surface that carries it away to the corona area. In the corona field, the material particles get the charge with the sign corresponding to the charge sign of the corona electrode, and affected by the electrical forces, press against the drum by the so-called mirroring forces.
By contacting with the collecting electrode, the material particles discharge. The high-conductivity particles quickly give their charge and are thrown away from the drum by the centrifugal force. The deflecting electrode provides for changing the trajectory of the particles flowing from the drum. The low-conductivity particles slower give their charge, that is why sediment on the drum. The number and types of the high-voltage electrodes, the deflecting electrode position, as well as the distance between the electrodes are determined in a pilot way for each type of the separated material.
The adjustable gate valves direct the material flows to the discharge device compartments. Thus, the current-conductive particles are directed to the compartments located on the drum rotation way, and the non-conductive ones are removed from the drum surface by the rotating brush to the compartments near the rear wall of the working chamber. The interim products consisting of conductive and non-conductive particles flow to the center compartments.
Scope of application and modifications of Elkor electrictrostatic separators
The ELKOR separator is made in several modifications:
- for diamond-containing raw material separation;
- for abrasive waste separation;
- for chopped cable separation;
- adaptation to certain kind of raw material.
Scope of application
-
extraction of metal concentrate from the secondary raw material (electrical and radio equipment, cable waste, and so on);
rare and precious metals rough concentrate upgrading;
production of superconcentrates of ferrous ores;
regeneration of dielectric materials (for example, plastics during their re-use);
metal powder purification;
non-metal powder purification (for example, quartz);
non-ferrous ore separation (feldspar, specular stone, wollastonite);
dust removal from the materials;
food loose products purification;
diamond rough concentrate upgrading; additional recovery of luminescent diamonds from tailings of the X-ray luminescent separation.v
