In the frameworks of the School of Young Scientists, on March 4, 2019, on the invitation of the RAS Academician, Leonid Vaisberg, in Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, the Professor of Leiden University, Yan M. van Ruitenbeek, delivered a lecture on the topic: “Advanced research in nanotechnologies”.
The lecture presented novelties in nanotechnologies that illustrate the theoretical opportunity for creation of the mechanisms (nano-robots) with the size of individual molecules. The issues that provide for meaningful understanding and monitoring the properties of various matters in the scales down to individual molecules and atoms were also highlighted.
Professor Ruitenbeek is a President of the Netherlands Physics Society, member of the European Physics Society (EPS), member of the American Physics Society (APS), member of the Board of the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM), member of the International Scientific Board NUST MISIS. The American Physics Society recognized Yan M. van Ruitenbeek as an outstanding reviewer.
The lecture was listened to by more than 150 persons, among whom there were not only the young scientists of Mekhanobr Tekhnika, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University and Mining University, but also the higher-education teaching personnel of these universities.
