The Imperial Porcelain Factory is the most significant production facility for artistic porcelain ware in the history of Russia. The porcelain manufacture was set up in 1744 in St. Petersburg by the edict of Empress Elizaveta Petrovna Nevskaya, and it was the beginning of the history of the Russian porcelain. In 1765, the manufacture was re-named as the Imperial Porcelain Factory. It became the first porcelain manufacturer in Russia and the third in the world.
In 2019, the Imperial Porcelain Factory celebrates its 275th anniversary of the founding, 50th anniversary of production of fine porcelain, and 75th anniversary of the IPF card - the cobalt grid.
